The Z.E. Revolution

Renault has successfully launched a range of 100% electric vehicles around the world and everyday more people are switching to electric vehicles and discovering the benefits of zero emission driving.  These vehicles offer an amazing driving experience leaving smiles and a taste of the future of the automobile.  Although not yet available here in Australia, we are working towards bringing these vehicles to the country.  In the meantime, you can find out more below.

  • Kangoo Z.E.

    Kangoo Z.E.: an electric version of the popular Kangoo van, designed with business owners and fleets in mind. It will soon be available in Australia.


    Twizy is pure fun! Its revolutionary design and architecture are guided by its function: to envelop you in complete freedom. Twizy is not currently available in Australia, register your interest to be kept up to date.

    ZOE is an electric vehicle ideal for everyday use, using tomorrow's technology to take care of yourself and your environment today. Zoe is not currently available in Australia, register your interest to be kept up to date.

The practical range of each model is indicated below and varies due to weight, aerodynamics and battery capacity.

What affects the vehicle’s range?

The range of the vehicle is affected by 4 key factors:

Driving style - Route terrain -  Temperature/Use of heating and air conditioning - Speed

How do electric vehicles charge?

It’s as simple as just plugging it in.

There are different ways of charging. You can use a standard domestic plug (10A), a Wall Box (16A/3kW) (either installed at home or public access) or a quick charge station

How long does it take to charge?

Charging an electric vehicle can vary from 30min to 12hours.

Where can I charge an electric vehicle?

At home – electric vehicles can be plugged into a standard domestic plug for a trickle charge, or a Wall Box can be installed. In Europe, electric vehicle drivers rely almost entirely on their privately installed Wall Box for their charging needs.

In public – some local councils have already started to install publicly accessible charging points for electric vehicle drivers. 

What sort of battery is used?

The Renault Z.E. vehicles use Lithium-ion batteries, offering great performance. It is very simple to charge, even when it is fully discharged. It can also be recycled at the end of its life

How much does it cost to run?

Running Costs: This can depend on the electricity rate, but fully charging Kangoo Z.E. could cost from as little as $3. 

Maintenance: Vehicle maintenance is approximately 50% less cost than an equivalent petrol or diesel powered vehicle. 

Why can’t Twizy be commercialised in Australia?

Twizy is categorised as a ‘quadricycle’ and as such does not fit within the existing Australian vehicle categories.

Does Twizy always come with scissor doors?

In Europe, Twizy is sold with optional scissor doors 

Does Twizy have windows?

In Europe, Twizy is sold without windows but they are available as an easy to fit accessory.

Does payload affect the range of the vehicles?

Payload has a nominal effect on the vehicle’s range. The driver’s driving style will have a much greater impact on the range of the vehicle. 

When can I buy a Renault Z.E. vehicle?

Commercialisation is not yet confirmed for Renault Z.E. vehicles in Australia. However, we have an ongoing trial of Kangoo Z.E. with Australia Post which will enable us to evaluate the business case for the vehicle in this country. 

How much does it cost to buy?

Commercialisation is not yet confirmed for Renault Z.E. vehicles in Australia, it is too early to provide an indicative price. 

Why aren’t Renault’s electric vehicles already here in Australia?

We are currently evaluating the business case for electric vehicles in Australia and have some early vehicles in the country to support this evaluation.

Several Renault Kangoo Z.E. are already in Australia and are being used by Australia Post to develop the business case. We will work towards the commercialisation of Kangoo Z.E. once the business case has been validated.
