Power, performance and passion on display at the Geelong Revival

Renault Australia are getting ready for another year in partnership with Geelong Revival Motoring Festival and this year – in conjunction with Rex Gorell Renault – are kicking it up a gear.

The Revival, now in its 61st year, will feature the awesome Megane Trophy V6, driven by one of Australia’s top race drivers, Supercars and GT driver, Dean Canto. Weighing just 980kg, the Trophy is the ultimate Supercar and Dean will take its 3.5-litre V6 motor, with its 7500rpm song, roaring down the raceway of the Revival’s headline event – the national sprint.

“The Megane Trophy V6 is a high-speed racing machine,” says Dean. “Its acceleration, cornering and braking performance are outstanding and I can’t wait to put it through its paces.”

Festival-goers will also get to see the category-leading new look Clio R.S. speeding down the raceway, driven by one of Australia’s youngest and most promising racecar drivers, Alex Peroni. A Renault Australia ambassador, Alex is a young Tasmanian racing driver currently racing in Europe in the Formula Renault Eurocup Series, the feeder series to Formula 1 that has featured the likes of Alain Prost, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

“Having both Dean and Alex share this event with us is an honour and one not to be missed. Dean has many wins on the board and Alex is just starting out his racing career” said Renault Australia Managing Director, Mr. Andrew Moore.

It’s not all about speed though. This year, the Renault Megane GT Wagon has been chosen as the official Geelong Revival safety vehicle. It will run the length of the raceway to ensure no debris is lying on the tarmac and there are no abrasions to the surface.

For those who consider themselves a speed demon, and want to try it for themselves, this year they can...in a way. The Renault F1 Simulator will be set up in the Lifestyle Zone and fans will be put to the test in a time-trial, racing against the clock to clinch glory. Or the fastest time.

“Motorsport is deeply embedded in Renault’s DNA, with over 118 years’ experience in racing and engine development. The Geelong Revival is an opportunity for us to demonstrate how important it is in Renault’s story” Mr Moore said.

This action-packed motoring festival, held on Geelong’s picturesque waterfront is an event not to be missed. Take pole position for the historic quarter-mile sprints as more than 300 classic cars and motorcycles sprint down the foreshore.
