Renault Powers the Electric Racing Championship of the Future

Renault has confirmed its commitment to the new Formula E championship, the grand prix of electric single-seater racing, with the announcement that it will be the title sponsor of the e.dams-Renault team. Jointly owned by Renault brand ambassador, racing legend Alain Prost and Jean-Paul Driot, e.dams-Renault is set to take the world of electric motorsport to new heights.

This partnership sees Renault step up its investment in this all-new, exciting discipline of Motorsport. The challenge also underlines Renault’s determination to showcase and innovate electric vehicle technology not only for motorsport, but commercial production as well.

The technology developed for the Formula E Championship is the same technology that powers the Renault Zero Emissions (Z.E) commercial vehicles today. Although they are not currently available in Australia the range of Z.E. vehicles includes the heavy duty Kangoo Z.E., the seductive ZOE and the head turning Twizy. These state of the art vehicles represent the future of the automotive industry and we’re excited to bring the very latest in Z.E. technology to our shores as soon as possible.

The e.dams-Renault drivers for the 2014/2015 championship will be Nicolas Prost and Sébastien Buemi, two well-known names from the worlds of Formula 1 and endurance racing. They will have the privilege of driving the new, 100% electric cars that will race around some of the planet’s finest cities, beginning in Beijing on September 13, 2014.
