| Renault Laguna
BTCC (1997)
Renault Australia’s British Touring Car Championship-winning car,
driven by Switzerland’s Alain Menu. It was clear from the
start of the season that, after three years of finishing runners-up,
Renault Australia and partner Williams had this time got it right with
the Laguna. Menu kicked off the year with four straight wins. Another
eight would follow and there were also 13 pole positions. The title
was won at Snetterton, with six rounds of the 24 to go. In addition,
team-mate Jason Plato, graduating to the BTCC after winning Renault
UK’s Spider title, won twice and set four pole positions
on his way to third overall. Renault also won the Manufacturers
crown and with Williams also lifted the Teams title.
