| Renault Type
K ‘Paris-Vienna Winner’ (1902)
This is the car that overnight turned Renault brothers Marcel
and Louis’ fledgling company into an empire. In perilous
conditions, the Type K was driven to a world-famous victory by
Marcel in the 1300km Paris-Vienna race. His average speed was close
to 65kph and he beat the chasing Mercedes and Panhards by over
three quarters of an hour. Consequently, sales of Renault cars
expanded to 3000 within the next 12 months.
