At just 17 years old, and competing and winning open wheeler races in Europe, Alex Peroni is one of the hottest rising stars in motorsport and Renault Australia are delighted to have signed on as a sponsor.
Of the partnership, Mr Justin Hocevar, Renault Australia Managing Director says “Alex can’t even drive on public roads in his home town of Hobart, yet he has already posted his first pole position and won his first race in the Eurocup on the streets of Pau, France - a great achievement during his first year in the series. We are excited to support him this year and look forward to many more podiums and wins.”
Racing on legendary tracks like Monaco, Silverstone, Monza and Nürburgring, Alex competes in the Formula Renault Eurocup, a feeder into Formula 1 that has seen the likes of Alain Prost, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo through its ranks.
With a goal to get to Formula 1 by the age of 20, Alex’s racing journey, like many others, started in go karting. Passionate about the sport, he began racing at the age of seven and by nine, was the youngest Australian to ever compete internationally. He is also the youngest Australian to ever compete in Europe in single-seater car racing, and for the past three years, has been competing in Formula 4 and Formula Renault 2.0.
Alex knows just how tough it is and the difference that sponsorship makes “Thank you to Justin and everyone at Renault Australia for your support. It is really appreciated. The field for this year’s Eurocup is really competitive, with some of the highest rated young drivers competing. It’s fantastic to know that other people believe in me and are prepared to support me in the series.”
