Renault Australia has revealed its new look 2020 Renault Koleos boasting improvements at all levels with a more assertive exterior design, enhanced interior comfort, more on-board technologies and an enhanced 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program.

The 2020 Koleos comes with a refreshed, more elegant and muscular style, giving it an even more assertive personality which is highlighted by an imposing front grille, new chrome inserts and wider skid plates.

Complementing the new look are redesigned alloy wheels and Renault’s signature C-shaped LED lights – with additional LED fog lamps now being fitted - to give the vehicle an even stronger signature on the road.

The 2020 Koleos will come with a new 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program providing customers with 5 years unlimited km warranty; 5 years capped price servicing (up to 150,000km whichever comes first) and up to 5 years’ service activated roadside assist.

Priced from $32,490 the new Renault Koleos fully embodies the values of the top of the Renault line-up reflecting all of Renault’s expertise in terms of elegance, sophistication and comfort.

Starting from $32,490 RRP the Renault Koleos is designed for Australians who are confident in their decisions and are prepared to stand apart from those around them,” Anouk Poelmann, Renault Australia Managing Director said.

"Elegant curves, bold lines, aggressive grills and a strong new colour, the New Renault Koleos will stand out with a road presence that is distinctively Renault,” Poelmann continued.

“With the launch of new Koleos and Renault’s All-New Kadjar this is a great time to visit your local Renault dealership to experience the strong visual identity, contemporary design and quality of a Renault SUV,” she added.

With its sturdy and high-end design, its comfort and its outstanding performance, the Renault Koleos has successfully established itself as an international reference in the family SUV segment.

Australia’s top selling French passenger vehicle it also offers real off-road capability with its all-wheel drive transmission which benefits from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s expertise.

The new Koleos will be sold in traditional Life, Zen and Intens variants and will be available in seven colours (Metallic: Millesim Red, Meissen Blue, Black, Grey, Mineral Beige and Universal White as well as Solid White).

Exterior design

A more assertive style for the New Koleos

The Renault Koleos’ design remains the primary purchasing criterion for customers. With its elegant appearance, muscular shoulders and stylish bodywork, it ticks all the boxes of a family SUV and fully meets its customers’ expectations and requirements. The New Koleos has a more assertive style and a stronger presence.

An even more distinctive front-end

The New Koleos’ front-end now features a more pronounced front grille. New chrome strip appears across the whole length of the bumper and extends to the chrome-underlined fog lamps. In the lower part, the bumper has a new and more impressive skid plate which accentuates the vehicle's adventurous look.

Greater harmony between front and rear

The rear of the New Koleos has been redesigned, with a skid plate extending higher on the bumper and transverse chrome strip to match the front-end. The third stop lamp has been extended. The New Koleos keeps the twin chrome exhaust pipes which give it a sporty touch.

New Distinctive Colour

The New Koleos now comes in a premium “Millesim Red” metallic bodywork colour which shows off the New Koleos’ volumes and lines with rich and deep shades ranging from black to red.

New alloy wheels

New alloy wheels – 19-inch with black diamond finish – give the New Koleos a polished look.

Distinctive identifying features

The New Koleos retains distinctive and striking features like its chrome trim extending horizontally down the whole wing, making the bonnet appear longer, and new chrome wing trims. Its C-shaped lighting signature, a characteristic feature of Renault models, gives it a unique and penetrating look.

Easy Life Ownership Program

New Koleos owners will be supported by an enhancement to Renault’s strong existing ownership benefits with the launch of 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program.

  • 5 Year Unlimited km warranty
  • 5 Years Capped price Servicing, up to 150,000km (whichever comes first)
  • Up to 5 Years’ Service Activated Roadside Assistance

This newly enhanced ownership offer is an increase on the previous offer of three years coverage on Koleos (promotional offers excluding) to five years for MY20 Koleos along with the additional year of Roadside Assistance when scheduled services are performed on time with a Renault Dealer.

The Koleos’ class-leading service intervals of up to 30,000km or 12 month (whichever comes first) allows up to 150,000km of driving over the first five years of ownership for some customers, which means a significantly stronger convenience and value proposition for Koleos owners compared with competitors who offer intervals ranging between 10,000km to 15,000km.

“Renault’s class-leading leading 30,000km servicing intervals ensures Australians choosing the Renault Koleos enjoy even greater peace of mind, convenience and value all backed by the heritage of the Renault brand,” Matthew Wright, Renault Australia Aftersales and Quality Director.

“The Australian Automotive industry yearly kilometre average of 13,400km^ means non-Renault SUV owners often need more than one trip to the service department each year. Further to this, our real world Koleos owners actually average 16,800km per annum,” Wright continued.

This can add a considerable cost to drivers over the ownership period, and means Renault’s longer servicing intervals provide both cost and convenience benefits to Australian Koleos owners every year,” Wright added.

“The added transparency of capped price servicing also helps to provide peace of mind to Koleos owners needing assurance on the real world costs of their vehicle,” he added.

In addition to the 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program Renault has further improved transparency for Koleos owners by including items that were previously additional to the published schedule now as standard in each service. As with the All-New Renault Kadjar the standard service now includes items such as Air Filter, Pollen Filter, Accessory Drive Belt, Coolant Replacement, Spark Plug Replacement and Brake Fluid Replacement.

Interior design

Focus on well-being with increased on-board sophistication and comfort

Meticulous attention to detail has been lavished on the finish of the new Koleos’s passenger compartment. The New Koleos is still generously proportioned and roomy, while key cabin features have been improved to enhance the comfort and well-being of passengers.

A spacious and welcoming SUV

The New Koleos is welcoming. 4,670 mm long and with a 2,710 mm wheelbase, it has been designed to provide as much interior space as possible for passengers and their luggage. Rear passengers have plenty of head, shoulder and elbow room. Knee room, amongst best-in-class 289 mm, remains the same. The New Koleos now offers a reclining rear bench seat with two positions that allow passengers to rest and relax during long journeys. To emphasise the sense of spaciousness even more, the New Koleos Intens comes with an opening glass sunroof which extends over the rear seats (optional for Zen).

Comfortable seats

The new Koleos front seats retain power adjustments and lumbar support with heating and ventilation features for both driver and passenger.

Ingenious versatility

With handles located in the boot, the One Touch Easy Folding Rear Seat System allows for 1/3-2/3 folding of the rear seat in no time. The loading capacity ranges from 458 litres with all five seats in place to 1,690 litres with the rear seat folded. The boot offers ingenious versatility with a raised floor at the same level as that of the load sill to provide a flat loading area. The New Koleos also has many storage compartments, including the glove box and a generous compartment in the centre console. There are warming and cooling cup holders in the front.

Technologies

New technological features

New technologies give the new Koleos increased on-board safety, connectivity and well-being.

A comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems

The new Koleos continues to feature a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Included as standard on all models is Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS Inter-Urban), Hill Start Assist, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Rear View Camera.

The Zen and Intens variants come with 360 degree parking sensors, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), with the Intens model also receiving additional safety features such as: Automatic High/Low Beam Headlights (AHL) and Easy Park Assist (EPA).

Smart LED Pure Vision lighting

Depending on the variants, the new Koleos can be equipped with LED Pure Vision headlamps acting both as high and low beam headlights. Daytime running lights give it a unique look. At night, the technology is 20% more powerful than a standard halogen beam, significantly improving visibility. The rear day and night running lights feature Edge Light technology which adds a 3D effect for clear and bright light, both from a distance and close up.

Full screen Apple CarPlay

All models are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a full-screen Apple CarPlay display available for the first time on Intens models.

R-Link 2

The R-LINK 2 sat nav and multimedia system is offered in two screen formats (depending on the variant), a 7-inch horizontal or an 8.7-inch vertical screen. The system allows drivers to personalise their driving profile (choosing features such as ambient lighting and custom speedometers) as well as featuring a voice recognition system activated from the steering wheel in order to manage sat nav, phone calls, and radio. Both USB plugs are now located under the centre console, at the base of the gear lever, for greater convenience.

When equipped with Navigation (from Zen model), New Koleos offers FREE 12 months live traffic and FREE 36 month Map Update Service provided by TomTom.

Ambient Lighting

The innovative light signature of Renault vehicles, the LED source ambient lighting function allows drivers to change the ambient colour of their vehicle with five colour choices available. Users can also control the intensity of the lighting and the areas of the cabin where this ambient lighting is featured.

Driving

The New Koleos opts for versatility

Smart 4WD transmission

Designed and developed by the Alliance, the new Koleos’s All Mode 4x4-i has already proved itself on millions of Alliance vehicles sold worldwide. The all-wheel drive system ensures constant control of the grip between the wheels and the ground to provide ultimate driveability in all situations. The New Koleos allows drivers to manually select the transmission mode:

• Front-wheel drive (2WD) mode: only the front wheels are driven, regardless of road grip conditions, reducing fuel consumption;

• Auto (4WD) mode: on-board electronics automatically manage torque distribution between the front and rear axles according to grip and driving conditions (up to 50% of torque can be transferred to the rear wheels);

• Lock (4WD) mode: the centre differential is locked and ensures a 50/50 torque distribution between the front and rear wheels. This mode can be used only in extreme and low-grip conditions (snow, mud, dirt, sand) and operates only at reduced speed. It is automatically disabled above 40 km/h and each time the engine restarts.

Real off-road capabilities

The New Koleos offers 210 mm ground clearance, one of the highest of its category, and its short overhangs provide front/rear approach and departure angles of 18° and 25° respectively. It thus shows real off-road capability when driving on sunken roads and even over obstacles.

Safer roadholding

The new Koleos’s All Mode 4x4-i system not only increases off-road capabilities but also improves roadholding to offer greater stability and safety. In Auto mode, all the sensors constantly monitor acceleration, yaw motion and the steering angle. Torque distribution between the front and rear wheels is then adjusted to provide greater grip and prevent understeer or oversteer.

Outstanding reliability

The new Koleos has undergone various endurance and quality tests to ensure maximum reliability, both on- and off-road. 150,000 km of roadway have been covered in extreme weather conditions: cold (-25°C), heat (+40°C), high altitude (+2,500 m), sun and dust. Very rigorous lab simulation tests have also been carried out over more than 400,000 km.
