Inspired by the world of concept cars and governed by an absolute pursuit of aerodynamic perfection, the Renault Sport R.S. 01 is a radical expression of the brand’s Formula One DNA. Its technical ingenuity reflects the best of Renault Sport expertise, allowing this force of nature to reach speeds of over 300km per hour.
Designed under the management of Laurens van den Acker, Renault Sport R.S. 01 displays the iconic raised logo as a key feature on the grille, but it’s what happens behind the grille that counts. Air is sucked through the grille and channelled by the stem of the chassis towards the two water coolers and expelled through the extractor’s hood. The negative pressure created by the outflow increases the downward force of the car giving the RS.01 rear wheels even more traction.
The devotion to aerodynamics doesn’t end there. The large blade of the lower splitter and the stepped flat bottom contribute to the aerodynamics at the front.
The two fins on the side of the bumper generate a vortex that limits the turbulence of the rotating wheel. Creating one of the world’s most efficient GT racer and one spectacular looking car.
An organiser of motorsports events for 40 years, the R.S. 01 allows Renault Sport to enter a new phase. It will be competing in the Renault Sport Trophy championship, providing opportunities for talent spotting in amateur drivers. Always looking to the future of motorsport, it will also provide opportunities for ‘Pro-Am’ teams and a gateway to the GT, DTM, ELMS and WEC championships.
